Review summary
Based on recent reviews

Beck Hall boasts a beautiful setting beside the beck, conveniently close to stunning beauty spots like Janet's Foss, making it ideal for hikes. The hotel is praised for its interesting and delicious breakfast, though some guests seeking a hearty spread of grains and nuts have found the vegan options unimaginative. Guests can enjoy open fires and a dog-friendly atmosphere, with some appreciating the novelty of a fully plant-based menu, including items like Juicy Marbles steak and Eton mess.

the staff were very friendly, and they are happy to help. the rooms had historic features. i also appreciated that the hotel welcomed dogs.
the breakfast was not great. i expected a lot of grains and nuts. the hotel looked a bit scruffy to me, the seats in the dining room for example. i could hear dogs barking, and they woke me up.

uninspired offeringsill-fitting sheets
The vegan breakfast left something to be desired. i envisioned a spread of grains and nuts, but the offerings felt uninspired. The lack of creativity was startling. also, i found myself tossing and turning because the sheets didn't quite fit the bed. It's a small detail, but it made a difference.

Satisfactory Stay

friendly staffopen firesmall sinkcramped room
I found the staff very friendly. They made me comfortable in the room. Open fires was a nice feature. I enjoyed sitting beside with a drink.
The bathroom was tiny. The sink was so small I found it useless. My room was not like the rooms advertised. I consider it not worth the price I paid per night.
